Browsing Around
I had this idea at work today - What shows up as the top auto-complete entry in your browser address bar for each letter? Here's my list:
A - http://amazon.com - Appropriate considering the holidays.
B - http://blog.washingtonpost.com/shortstack/2007/12/great_sci_fi_for_people_who_th.html - Apparently I don't hit up too many sites that start with B, but this article is at least worth reading.
C - http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php - A sometimes-funny web comic.
D - http://digg.com/ - No surprise there.
E - http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation - The always worthwhile fully ramblyonic gaming reviews of one Yahtzee.
F - http://www.flickr.com/photos/scottjohnson/sets/72157601200807582/ - The 56 Geeks poster by Scott Johnson.
G - http://www.gamerswithjobs.com - The gamers forum that I frequent, and my Team Fortress 2 server.
H - http://www.howmanyfiveyearoldscouldyoutakeinafight.com/ - Not making that one up. That's really the top entry for H.
I - http://www.idratherbewriting.com/2007/12/11/a-good-response-to-no-one-reads-the-help-anyway/ - This one came down from my boss. Always looking for a way to encourage her tech writers.
J - http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/comparison-shows-significant-edits-to-gerstmanns-kane-and-lynch-r/ - Probably totally irrelevant to non-gamers, but this is apparently the last article I read at Joystiq.
K - http://www.kotaku.com - A gaming blog.
L - http://litfusefilms.com/movies/ignissolus/ - Ah, machinima. Most underrated film style ever.
M - http://mail.google.com - Checkin' my e-mail.
N - http://www.neaveru.com/digg/ - The best tool for keeping track of what you've said on digg.com
O - http://omglists.com/article/47475/6-do-gooder-gifts-for-this-holiday-season/ - Season-appropriate.
P - http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic - More web-comicery.
Q - Hmm. Would seem that there aren't any sites I frequent that begin with Q.
R - http://rubbishpixels.blogspot.com/2007/12/six-biggest-arseholes-in-games.html - Really? That's the best I can do for R? Oh well.
S - http://steamcommunity.com/id/NSMike - My Steam ID page. Totally irrelevant to anyone but gamers who know me.
T - http://www.techdirt.com/ - Techdirt. Like Slashdot, only better.
U - http://www.ubuntu.com/ - My Linux Distro of Choice.
V - http://www.vgcats.com/ - I seem to spend a lot of time hitting up the web comics.
W - http://www.woot.com/ - Woot: The one-deal-a-day store. Oliphaunts, Mordor and Gandalf!
X - http://www.xbox.com/ - More gaming. What a surprise. Don't I do anything else?
Y - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTGrjcgSeAA - Team Fortress 2 sounds dubbed over Saving Private Ryan. Only really funny if you play the game.
Z - http://www.zipzoomfly.com/ - I actually prefer Newegg.
